DETOX TIME
Indulging is not always a bad thing, but it should definitely be done in moderation. I am the first person to say YES to ice cream, chocolate, and fried chicken, but I always find I feel yucky and my skin looks dull and unhealthy after days (or weeks) of poor eating.
THIS CALLS FOR A DETOX!
There are several things you can do for you body and skin that are beneficial to your health and promote a glowing, healthier appearance.
First and foremost. something you have most likely heard and will continue to hear... WATER. Water is so incredibly for your immune system, health, and skin. When you need to detox due to a bad eating week or a bad skin week; switch over to water. If you are an avid coffee drinker, substitute your caffeine addiction for lightly caffeinated green tea and choose water as your beverage of choice for the rest of the day.
Speaking of green tea... drink a cup of unsweetened hot green tea before your first meal (or each meal if you are dedicated enough) to kick start your metabolism. Green tea has so many benefits including it's antioxidants which serve as a natural detox for your digestive system and skin.
Next up on the detox tour is to sweat it ALL out! This is also an incredible hangover cure. Crummy weeks make for the best workouts! Book a hot yoga class to stretch and sweat out all of the toxins your skin and body have held onto or take a cardio class then head to the sauna for a deeper sweat.
My absolute favorite place to workout is Sweatlex. Best hot yoga and focus classes for any type of detox or fitness journey.
Clean eating definitely needs to be made part of your detox. This is probably the hardest part for me to follow. Instead of ice cream, opt for something dairy-free. Instead of what you really want on the menu, pick that kale salad (you'll thank yourself later).
Once you've mastered that part of your detox, then you can add a full skin care detox.
- CLEANSE
- it's so important that you fully cleanse your face before bed and in the morning, especially when you are having a particularly bad week. This includes gentle foaming cleansers, cleansing masks, and toner! Always always always double cleanse
- CLAY MASKS
- clays masks are so good to rid of toxins and rejuvenate your skin one I have been using as a detox for my skincare is cosmetic warrior by Lush. But any clay or charcoal mask can do the tirck
- EXFOLIATE
- you should exfoliate your skin anywhere from 1 to 3 times per week depending on your skin type, but for a proper skin care detox exfoliating can be a game changer. It is so important to get the grime and dead skin off and out of your pores! I love peeling gels and my gentle silicone cleansing brush
- SHEET MASKS
- these can be hit or miss sometimes, but a good brand can do wonders for troubled skin. I absolutely love innisfree, but there are plenty of successful brands with great products.
After your detox you will feel amazing, bright, and beautiful! If you decide to do a detox, be sure to tag me on instagram and show me what you're using @boobalarose or #passporttobeauty
